Functions and powers

Decisions on important questions, such as those on peace and security, admission of new members and budgetary matters, require a two-thirds majority. Decisions on other questions are by simple majority.

The Assembly has adopted its own rules of procedure and elects its President and for each session.

Practical arrangements

The Delegates Handbook, revised and issued each year at the beginning of the new session of the General Assembly, is applicable throughout the session.

The provides information and forms for registration, accreditation and pass issuance or renewal for Member States.
